Phil Brown

The late Phil Brown is a known artist of the Nevada foothills having gained prominence in his representational landscape style reminiscent of the American Hudson River Valley School. Indeed, Phil trained at that esteemed Art College before moving out west with his wife in their youth. Phil taught art and painting at Sierra College in the foothills and his work is beloved by many.

Phil’s work captures those singular moments along the branches of the Yuba River and its watershed in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California with the purpose of recording them and increasing their public importance as areas to respect and save.
